Erin and I have put together the following, (more Erin than I) for how you guys can help us right now. And your help we desperately need. The Bible says: We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair (2 Corinthians 4:8). That describes us perfectly. Talk to people about us--help spread the word!! Bring in a friend or family member frequently. Be a walking advertisement with our shirts, coffee mug, or coffee. And continue to come in everyday for the best cup of coffee around to support your local coffeehouse!! Here at Kaiteur, we are passionate about service and building relationships with everyone who walks through our doors. Though times have been tough, we are still hanging in there and doing what we can to continue to serve you. However, sometimes that is not enough. We are asking you for your help to keep us here--after all, you are the ones who own this place, we just turn the lights on. We truly are grateful for all of you and hope we can continue to serve you and see your smiling faces!! Thanks for all of your support. Kaiteur Coffeehouse Moose, Shealy, Erin

I learned a few years back the turn over rate in the restaurant industry is well in excess of 100%. So in my idealistic naiveté prior to opening I was determined to prove that it was possible to not repeat that in our business. Two year later, we have at least matched that average. This is despite the fact, in my estimation, of our success in engineering a better place to work.
We strive to throw out the old models of management by for example running a flat organization, encouraging real input in decisions (not just talking about it), trusting our team members and being confident that if we follow our gut in making decisions with a commitment to delivering the best experience to our guests we will be alright even when we make a mistake.
With that in mind it occurred to me late last night that it was Erin's 1 year anniversary working here!
It’s The longest we have had anyone working with us, and it shows in her contributions. She may not know this but over the past several months I have rarely made a decision without getting her feedback first. Even when it was a nod or simple "good idea".
She was the second to last person to join the team and has added volumes of value; you only have to see the faces of the people who come in expecting to see her when she is off. She is a real friend and team member, truly amazing.

It’s a rainy day in Georgia, London
Prrrfect day to curl
up in the coffeehouse with our special of the day, a Caramel Mocha. Erin made me one and it has the perfect balance of
espresso earthiness mixed with the warm foamed milk and the chocolate and
caramel compliment each other perfectly.

We have already had friends stop in for their first meeting of the New Year to probably talk about the family and friends they got together with, folks they are likely to not see for probably another year.

Nora Jones in the background, it’s a great 1st Saturday in January day in Conyers.
